Short & Simple Reviews: Bound & Stake That

This is a place for books that I didn't fully review.
Maybe I listed my likes and dislikes, had a little short paragraph, or a few sentences to convey my feelings on the book, but whatever the "review" is, all of them are short and simple. (hence the clever name)

Bound (Arelia LaRue, #1)
Sixteen year old Arelia LaRue lives in New Orleans where the music is loud, voodoo queens inhabit every street corner, and the ghosts are alive and well. Despite her surroundings, all she wants is to help her Grand-mere Bea pay the rent and save up for college.
When her best friend Sabrina convinces her to take a well-paying summer job at the infamous Darkwood plantation, owned by the wealthy LaPlante family, Arelia agrees.
However, at Darkwood nothing is what is seems. Arelia enters a world full of tricky spirits, strange characters and forbidden love.
In the intoxicating world of New Orleans Hoodoo/Voodoo expect the unexpected!
 Come along for the ride...

Review
This book did have an interesting storyline, but there were a few things I had some trouble with:
1. Sabrina.
Sabrina is supposedly Arelia's best friend. What Sabrina really is, is a vain b*tch that treats her "friend" like crap. I could not understand how Arelia saw her as a friend.

2. Arelia's reactions to things seemed a little bizarre. It's hard to go into more detail into that, but she was either overeactive, nonreactive, or not having the right reaction to things.

That's about it.
I did feel that nothing interesting happened until the end, but this is a short book and it's part of a series, so that's perfectly understandable.

I hereby give this book
3 Wheels
Meaning: I liked it.

Stake That (Blood Coven Vampire, #2)Two sisters—as different as the sun and the rain. For one, getting into the Blood Cover is to die for, but it seems destiny has something else in mind...
Rayne McDonald had it all figured out. Get turned into a vampire, become the mate of the Blood Coven leader, and live the high-life for all eternity. Too bad the head vamp took a bite out of her twin sister by mistake. Now, not only is Rayne still not a vampire, but she learns she's a slayer instead—destined to destroy vamps gone bad.
After being recruited by a secret organization, Rayne is given her first mission: infiltrate a seedy bar downtown and expose its vampire owner, Maverick, for purposely spreading a nasty blood virus. Luckily the Blood Coven sends some help—in the form of sexy vampire Jareth. Will vampire and slayer be able to settle their differences and work together to bring down the evil Maverick? Or will they find their own hearts on the line?

Review
The major problem that I had with the previous book was the fact that the narrator had a "Teenager voice". A voice that is constantly spouting out movie references, texting acronyms, and going off into tangents.
I understand that some teenagers do talk like this, but it is very annoying.
I completely forgot about that when I picked up this book.
While we do get a different narrator, we still have this voice.
But eventually the voice does seem to disappear, which make me enjoy the story more.

Other then the voice, I didn't really have a problem.
Sure, the story was predictable, but overall, this was a cute, quick, and entertaining vampire book.

I hereby give this book
2.5 Wheels
Meaning: I kind of liked it.
